On a Personal note..We are still surrounded by fire. Its calmed down at the moment.
The Northerly winds that were predicted, that i wrote about on the last post came late, so just as it was taking hold, the southerly kicked in…Sadly that fire has consumed the towns of Bilpin (about 1hour north of me) and Lithgow (about 2 hours west of me)… Each day, i check on the map and each day it edges closer..
Fingers crossed it rains and the firies can get a hold of it…

1985 – LOST HITS MIXTAPE (Remastered)

Hello and Welcome Back… Last Post for The Year

Another Tape that was found recently with a selection of tasty treats that graced the airwaves back in 1985.

I recorded this tape around summer 1985 / early 1986, from memory, listening to radio stations 2SM, 2UW and Triple M Sydney.

The last song on this tape was a compilation of Triple M employees including Doug Mulray (voices Madam Zenda and others), Johno & Danno and others which i have forgotten… I particularly like the voice of Binky and his family.

The time i did this tape, I was 15 and was headed into year 10 at school. (Campbelltown High, here I Come)

I was listening to my first Walkman (It was a Sanyo.. Thanks Mum & Dad) and enjoying the sweet sounds of Stereo…

From memory, i recorded this tape from my next door neighbors boom box that i had borrowed.

Take a listen, some songs you may not remember but once you hear them, you go “I Remember this”

1987 – LOST HITS MIXTAPE (Remastered)

Hello and Welcome Back…. One of my Fav Tapes back in the Day

This is one of the lost tapes / discs i found the other day and i decided to remaster it and release to the world.
A few of these songs are kinda rare in nature as i recorded the original tape in the Summer of 87 / early 1988.

For me, it was a interesting time.
I had left school and was working. Started at Venture in Campbelltown, NSW then started work at Shell and finally at B.P doing driveway attendant and helping the Mechanic.
This was the job i loved the most. The owner was into VW’s so i got a inside look at the goings on with various VWs, inc beetles, fastbacks and the popular vans.
I also did Tyre repairs and I was the only place open on Saturday and Sundays who did Tyre repairs.
Below is a photo of a Tyre i fixed (rear drivers side)… “go on, do a burnout for me”.. i asked.

Back to the music…

Some of the tracks were from friends who were into various tastes of music.
The song ‘Tracey Spencer- Run to Me’ was from an Italian bloke called Adrian who after getting a lift, lent me his tape of various Euro tracks and i instantly loved this song.

PERSONAL NOTE
Tomorrow is D-Day  for myself and my family as our home is literally surrounded by Bushfire.
I live in Springwood in the Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia
The Fire rating tomorrow is Catastrophic (the worst) and 46c temps with a Northerly wind up to 50kmph.
2 fire fronts are worrying. The first is the biggest in NSW and is to the north of me, having northerly winds tomorrow will push it closer. At the moment, its made its way to the middle of the valley with a uphill run towards Faulconbridge & Winmalee.(surrounding suburbs)
Im on the south side of Springwood.
The second fire is behind me in the south and has crossed into the bush and with a forecast of a late southerly, it will push that fire closer as well…

I can only pray that all ends well but is scary at the same time.

ROXETTE MIXTAPE (Remastered)

Hello and Welcome Back… A Lost Tape has been revived.

A few posts back, I was writing about some Tapes and Discs i had found while looking for a album Cover… This is one of the Tapes

I made this Mixtape in the early 90s.

For me, the early 90s was a difficult / fun / scary / sad time.

My Grandfather had a series of heart attacks.

I left home for the first time and moved in with my then girlfriend.
Her name was Jodie Horne. She was a fun, exciting, gorgeous girl and i often asked myself “whats she doing with a guy like me”?..

It was around this time Roxette released their album ‘Joyride’ and for me, life was a joyride for a while.

Sadly it ended with said girlfriend, a mix of self doubt & trust issues. We were together for nearly 1.5 years?

After splitting with said girlfriend, i was living in my car for a while and moved once again, closer to where i was working at the time.

Found a awesome granny flat to live in..

Grandfather passed away..

As i sat in my car one afternoon, listening to this tape, tears streaming down my face, thinking how I lost my girlfriend, my Grandfather & my Family (they didn’t want to talk to me at the time), I wondered what was to become of my life…

I then asked a friend to move into said granny-flat. She was to become my future wife.

Things Will Never Be The Same….

Remastering this album was difficult to say the least, not only the memories of that period in time but the recent passing of  lead singer “Marie Fredriksson”..

There were a few tears shed..

Released in 1983, The Big Ones is an  Australian Various Artist Compilation through CBS Records, available on Audio Cassette and Vinyl Record.

This album has never been released on CD

This version is CD Quality, nearly all songs are from various CDs, Remastered / Auto-leveled so it sounds ‘LUSH’
The only difference will be some songs are ‘Album’ versions and not ‘radio’ versions. Radio versions were shorter to make them fit on the album.
Also Note, older albums (Like this One) sometimes have Vinyl mastered singles transferred to CD on rare occasions, It was how the record company’s brought out some CDs.

MARIE FREDRIKSSON – LEAD SINGER OF ROXETTE HAS DIED

Hello and Welcome Back… Sad News This Morning

‘Marie Fredriksson’, lead singer for Swedish band ‘Roxette’ has passed away after a long battle with cancer.

She was only 61 years young.

TIL TUESDAY MIXDISC (Remastered)

Hello and Welcome Back…

In a previous post, I stated i had found a box with various Minidiscs in it…

This is one of them…Remastered

I made this Disc around the early/mid 90s, it was originalaly on a TDK Audio Tape which i then transferred to a Sony MDW-74 Disc and although a little dusty in my current Sharp Recorder/Player, the playlist is pretty good…

One of my better Discs that i made…

For those who don’t know, Til Tuesday (also known as ‘Til Tuesday…the little ‘ makes all the difference) is a band from the U.S, who had a huge smash hit with the song ‘Voices Carry’ which came out around 1985.
The band is fronted by one of the most gifted female singers of the 80s ‘Aimee Mann’ (Yes, she’s the one with the big ‘Rats Tail’ as they were called in the 80s) and released 3 big albums, those being ‘Voices Carry'(1985), ‘Welcome Home'(1986) & ‘Everything’s Different Now’ (1988)

A QUICK NOTE

Hello and Welcome Back…. A Quick Note

Just thought i would reach out to the readers and music lovers of this site…

As Christmas and New Years just around the corner, I want to try and get all the albums im working on finished and have them available for you to listen to while i take a break over the New Years period to spend time with the Family.

One thing i wanted to let you know is that, I found a box full of Minidiscs while looking for a rare cassette cover, I didn’t find the cover but found a bunch of Mixdiscs and things.

I want to remaster and have available some of my Mixdiscs/Mixtapes so you can enjoy as much as i hade making them.

In the meanwhile, i am in the middle of a Minidisc Secret Santa and are creating an album full of Heavy Rock/Metal for a Special Person on the Minidisc Fan Site on Facebook.

Yes, that’s right folks, i still listen to Minidisc..

For those who are saying, what the hell is a Minidisc, think like a Cassette Mixtape only on a small CD encased in a shell to protect the disc…Like the revival of the Audio Tape & Vinyl, Minidisc is also making a comeback.

Well, i had better get back to it…Its currently 41.3c at the moment with large Bush Fires to the front and at the back of me and is extremely smokey, like choke you smokey…
Its not a nice summer at the moment.
