PLASTIC BERTRAND – ca plane pour moi ( lost hit )

Hello and welcome back…Just outside the 80s was this strange song.
Sang by Belgian musician Roger Allen Francois Jouret ( aka Plastic Bertrand ) in 1978.
He started his career in music as a drummer in the band “The Bisons” playing Rolling Stone covers.

O.k here’s the bad news, Plastic Bertrand didn’t actually sing this, The song “Ca Plane Pour Moi” was recorded in a studio and was sung and produced by Lou Deprijck.
For his efforts “Plastic Bertrand” received only 0.5% of the song royalties (Milli Vanilli anyone )…Still its a great song and even better when had one too many to drink and you try to sing the lyrics…English translation is interesting… goes something like “Wham Bam my Splash Cat”,  least everyone knows the chorus… Oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo

PLASTIC BERTRAND  – ca plane pour moi

LYRICS TRANSLATED  (yes, its real) .. taken from spicks and specks TV show..many thanks

CULTURE CLUB

Hello and welcome back… Culture Club were formed in the “New Romantic” era in the 80s and hailed from the U.K.
The band is fronted by Boy George (George Alan O’Dowd- vocals) with Mikey Craig (bass guitar), Roy Hay (guitar, synths) and Jon Moss (drums).
Their music is classed as New Wave meets Soul with Jamaican Reggae.

Culture Club has released several platinum albums including “Kissing to be Clever”(1982), “Colour by Numbers”(1983) and “Waking up with the house on fire”(1984).
For me Culture club were a band that mainly girls listened to back in the 80s, as my girlfriend at the time would explain “Boy George was Gorgeous”… I failed see it, as some dude in lipstick and strange clothes was prancing around singing like a girl but then, that was the 80s.

Culture Club had a slather of singles including “Karma Chameleon”,”Church of the Poison Mind”, “Victims”, “Miss Me Blind”, “Its A Miracle”, “The War Song”, and “God Thank You Woman”. My favourite song would be “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me”… Its a catchy song that I sometimes sing to in front of my wife… And she replies  Yes, she does… should I be worried?

DO YOU REALLY WANT TO HURT ME

CHURCH OF THE POISON MIND

BEARGARDEN – i write the news (lost hit)

Hello and welcome back… O.K back to the music.
Beargarden were a Melbourne band from Australia and were often a back up to gig to INXS live shows and went under the banner of “New Wave”.
The band was fronted by Sam Sejavka (vocals) with Mick Lewis (guitar), Carl Manuell (drums) and Gus Till ( synths)
Mick Lewis was later replaced by Shane Andalou.
Gus Till also played in the band “The Models”.

I first heard this band after buying a compilation tape in 1985 which had this excellent song on it called 1985 ON  FIRE.
Beargarden released 2 albums called “all that fall”( 1985) and recently ” The Word That Refers To The Word That Refers to Walt Disney” (2010)
Beargarden was often on the aussie show “countdown” with Molly Meldrum.
Other songs by this band were “the finer things” and “drink, drink, drink”
An excellent “lost” Australian band.

PLEASE NOTE

Hello, Just a quick note = due to the demise of Mega Upload and Multi upload, alot of links may not be working anymore, this has caused a flow on affect to the ones that are still working. You can expect at least 1-2 hours to download albums that would have only taken 20 mins previously.
In this ever changing world its a shame that greedy record company’s and organizations have to change certain things to suit themselves and their billions of dollars.
To the notion that we as consumers are stealing from artists is totally wrong, as someone like myself who has worked in major music stores, how can we steal that what is not available?, I scoured through music catalogs to BUY, yes Buy 80s music albums only to be told that they were not available, that they had discontinued years ago. The albums that were available, I ended up buying.
Unfortunately money talks and soon i fear that sites like my own and others will soon come to an end as will free speech.
These are my thoughts and rants only and not that of blogger or anyone else

Thanks for taking the time to read.

SHONA LAING – drive baby drive ( lost hit )

Hello and welcome back…This song taken from her 1987 album is one of my favourite songs, its the kind of song i could listen to at 1am in the morning driving down the freeway in the rain.
New Zealand born Shona Laing has the voice of honey, with lyrics you can sing to.
An excellent song.

“Drive baby drive” was taken from the album “South” and also includes the hit ‘glad I’m not a Kennedy”.
This album was re-released in America in 1988.
